The Case of the Missing Mortgage Fraud Task Force

change-obama.jpgIt's been almost three months since the President announced the creation of a mortgage fraud investigation in his State of the Union address. There's been no movement on the investigation and no indication that anything will move anytime soon.
We know that shortly after the State of the Union, a plan was proposed to hire 55 federal agents for this large scale investigation. But to date, we don’t know who most of these investigators are and when they are going to start their work. But maybe the biggest mystery of all, is why have only 55 investigators been assigned to this case?
President Obama must act to make sure the mortgage task force has a real leader and that the investigation is going at full tilt. The President must add hundreds more investigators to the paltry 55 that have been planned for, so far. We need a powerful investigation to truly unearth big bank fraud, and President Obama can make it all happen right now.
