Pit bull owner faces two felony charges

Pit bull owner faces two felony charges:

'via Blog this'Kimberly Vasquez, 38, of Longview is scheduled for her first appearance in Cowlitz County Superior Court on Dec. 4, according to Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Michelle Shaffer.
Vasquez, who hasn’t surrendered the 3-year-old pit bull named Lexi to animal control, is accused of failing to meet the requirements for a dangerous dog. She also is accused of forging Lexi’s rabies certificate, which resulted in the dog-bite victim needing to undergo a series of rabies shots.
The attack occurred Aug. 26 as the boy was riding his bike on a sidewalk outside Vasquez’s duplex at 223 Cypress St. Lexi tore a chunk out of the boy’s calf, which required 40 stitches and a skin graft. When authorities arrived the night of the attack, Vasquez said her son had taken Lexi and she didn’t know the dog’s whereabouts.
Two weeks later, Vasquez surrendered someone else’s look-alike pit bull to the Humane Society, claiming it was the dog authorities were seeking. However, they have yet to track down the real Lexi.
