“Maybe those people should be focusing on conditions other than their borderline blood pressure,” Dr. Taylor said. “If we intervene with these people who don’t have a lot of risk, maybe we’re going to cause more harm than benefit.”

'via Blog this'"Of the 4,164 dogs involved in fatal and disfiguring attacks on humans occurring in the U.S. & Canada since September 1982, when I began logging the data, 2,591 (62%) were pit bulls; 534 were Rottweilers; 3,343 were of related molosser breeds, including pit bulls, Rottweilers, mastiffs, boxers, and their mixes. Of the 510 human fatalities, 258 were killed by pit bulls; 84 were killed by Rottweilers; 380 (69%) were killed by molosser breeds. Of the 2,304 people who were disfigured, 1,506 (61%) were disfigured by pit bulls; 307 were disfigured by Rottweilers; 1,910 (82%) were disfigured by molosser breeds. Pit bulls, incidentally, inflict about 10 times as many fatal and disfiguring injuries on other pets and livestock as on humans, a pattern unique to the pit bull class. Surveys of dogs offered for sale or adoption indicate that pit bulls are less than 5% of the U.S. dog population; molosser breeds, all combined, are 9%."

Matthew's case is just one example in an increasing trend among urban police officers working tough beats. In New York City this week six police officers are being investigated for allegedly using illegal prescriptions to obtain anabolic steroids for bodybuilding.
According to law enforcement experts, Matthew is the prototypical steroid user — in his 30s, white and worried about competing. In Matthew's case, he was trying to stay on top of a job that constantly forced him to face younger and stronger criminals.
"I look back on that and other scuffles, and I was not nearly as tough and strong as I once was," said Matthew, now a 33-year-old single father.

Mortality among steroid users 4 to 5 times higher than among non-steroid lifters!:

Misuse of supraphysiological doses of anabolic steroids is claimed to have serious side effects. The aim of the study was to determine the mortality, and the cause of premature deaths among a group of subjects who are strongly suspected to have used anabolic steroids for a non-medical purpose over several years. The mortality of 62 male powerlifters placed 1st-5th in weight series 82.5-125 kg in Finnish championships during 1977-1982 was compared with the mortality of population controls. The mortality during the 12-year follow-up was 12.9% for the powerlifters compared to 3.1% in the control population. By 1993 eight of 62 powerlifters and 34 of 1094 population controls had died, thus the risk of death among the powerlifters was 4.6 times higher (95% CI 2.04-10.45; p = 0.0002). The causes of premature death among the powerlifters were suicide (3), acute myocardial infarction (3), hepatic coma (1) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (1). These findings add to the growing amount of evidence of an association between anabolicsteroid abuse and premature death, and support the view that measures to decrease AAS misuse among both competitive and amateur athletes are justified.

There is also growing evidence that steroid use increases the risk of suicide, depression, psychotic behavior and homicidal behavior and aggression among regular users. Steroid use among adolescents and young adults seems also correlated with poor self steam, problems with self image and parental over concern with body image. Steroid use is also likely to instigate regular users to experiment with other recreational illegal drugs, particularly opioids. Don't believe me? Check out those links:

Bottom line: It is time to stop the fallacy that "steroids when used safely won't have major detrimental effects on your health".

Florida has some of the nation’s most liberal gun laws, permitting concealed carry permit holders to bring weapons with them almost everywhere, although by law they are banned in bars, schools, courthouses, police departments, mass transit centers, ports, state parks and other government buildings.

Disney, however, is not officially a protected area according to Florida’s limited gun regulations, but it exists in a strange legal limbo built upon two phantom “cities” that enable Disney to employ its own police force and exercise dictatorial control over areas within the park’s boundaries. Because Disney owns all the land and all its residents elect Disney loyalists, they are able to ban weapons by fiat through provisions in Florida’s property laws.

D.A.R.E. is Community Policing

D.A.R.E. is universally viewed as an internationally recognized model of community policing. The United States Department of Justice has identified how D.A.R.E. benefits local communities:
  • D.A.R.E. "humanizes" the police: that is, young people can begin to relate to officers as people

  • D.A.R.E. permits students to see officers in a helping role, not just an enforcement role

  • D.A.R.E. opens lines of communication between law enforcement and youth

  • D.A.R.E. Officers can serve as conduits to provide information beyond drug-related topics

  • D.A.R.E. opens dialogue between the school, police, and parents to deal with other issues

(At this point in history, "humanizing" police is a bad idea, as anyone stupid enough to trust them knows.)

One of the reasons Denmark and other Scandinavian countries with a strong social safety nets weathered the Great Recession better is that they had a built in stimulus. In America when one loses a job, they get unemployment for a short time (this recession was an exception). That unemployment is much less than wages and runs out quickly. That means the contribution to the economy by that laid off worker makes a recession much worse as much less money is entered into the economy. In countries with strong safety nets, workers get up to 90% of their wages. As such the economic shock from unemployment is mitigated till the economy’s ‘overstock’ is mitigated until increased employment is required.

    Vaccine's: Don't Worry About Them

    Vaccines: Vac-Gen/Some Misconceptions:

    'via Blog this'

"One myth that won't seem to go away is that DTaP vaccine causes sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). This belief came about because a moderate proportion of children who die of SIDS have recently been vaccinated with DTaP; and on the surface, this seems to point toward a causal connection.

If you consider that most SIDS deaths occur during the age range when 3 shots of DTaP are given, you would expect DTaP shots to precede a fair number of SIDS deaths simply by chance.

(But what causes SIDS? And don't cases of SIDS rise with the amount of vaccinations given? Yes.)

As for vaccines causing death, again so few deaths can plausibly be attributed to vaccines that it is hard to assess the risk statistically.
    (Why don't you try?)

The American public would not tolerate vaccines if they did not have to conform to the most rigorous safety standards.
(Seriously!???? The American public ISN'T tolerating them!! The more people resist, the more mandates the drug companies try to push. Only people who don't read the package inserts or about the possible side effects are not resisting. Granted, that's a lot of people. Think how many people didn't read their rigged mortgage paperwork, and what kinds of problems THAT caused. Lack of resistance to something doesn't mean it's safe! The educated WANT more safety tests! We would love a magic shot to protect our kids!)

If the number and type of VAERS reports for a particular vaccine lot suggested that it was associated with more serious adverse events or deaths than are expected by chance, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has the legal authority to immediately recall that lot. To date, no vaccine lot in the modern era has been found to be unsafe on the basis of VAERS reports.
    (And that proves nothing.)

VAERS reports have many limitations since they often lack important information, such as laboratory results, used to establish a true association with the vaccine.
(Why not get that info? How hard could it be? Everything is computerized.)

A certain number of VAERS reports of serious illnesses or death do occur by chance alone among persons who have been recently vaccinated.
(Why report it to VAERS, then?)

A report made to VAERS does not mean that the vaccine, or other vaccines from the same group or lot caused the event.
(Shouldn't you err on the side of safety, though?)

Most routine childhood vaccines are effective for 85% to 95% of recipients. For reasons related to the individual, some will not develop immunity.

...it is true that in an outbreak those who have been vaccinated often outnumber those who have not - even with vaccines such as measles, which we know to be about 98% effective when used as recommended.
    No vaccine is 100% effective.

...But of the 995 who have been vaccinated, we would expect several not to respond to the vaccine."

Eighteen babies and toddlers have died following childhood vaccinations in just four years, a secret Government report reveals.
Four deaths have been linked to suspected adverse reactions to the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) triple jab, according to documents prepared for the Government's expert advisers on immunisation.

Vaccine deaths are always denied as 'coincidental' and suppressed by being hidden under terms such as cot deathMSbP & SBS. See here for 40 vaccine/SIDS deaths in 2 years in one city.  Officially, as compensated by the NVICP over 100 children are killed every year by vaccines in the USA.  VAERS reports list over 300 from just 4 vaccines, bearing in mind only 1-5% of vaccine reactions are reported 1.

(It's funny how the so-called conspiracy theory sites are so full of factual information, and the vaccine pushing sites just tell you to not worry about all the "coincidences." They admit the coincidences happen, and normally science would hop on those coincidences, but for some reason with vaccines, they just don't want to know. Any time a scientist makes a discovery pointing to coincidences being maybe a little more, that scientist is discredited. Why not investigate the claims?)

Are Vaccines Safe? | Global Research

Are Vaccines Safe? | Global Research:

'via Blog this'According to the statutes of the FDA’s Public Health Service Act, vaccine manufacturers are required to prove a vaccine complies with three criteria before approval and launch: safety, purity and potency. There are no requirements before FDA approval and licensing that a vaccine undergoes independent studies by researchers with no vested financial interests and industry ties in order to validate a vaccine maker’s claims. Rather, the entire approval process is nothing more than a good-faith relationship between the vaccine industrial complex and the FDA and the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACID), the primary entity determining vaccine policies.

The more vaccines are studied, the more apparent it becomes that proper vaccine studies are lacking, as vaccine expert and pediatrician Larry Palevsky explains. There is a major difference between natural acquired immunity and vaccine-induced immunity. Obtaining natural immunity has far greater benefits, but this fact seems to be completely overlooked in the United States, considering it's recommended that U.S. babies receive 26 doses of vaccines before age 1 (which, incidentally, is twice as many vaccinations as are given to babies in Sweden and Japan).

The normal strategy in the aftermath of this type of horrific mauling appears to be to blame the owner, minimize the attack, or claim the animal was not actually a pit bull. In this case however, the owner was one of their own, the deaths of mother and child made the attack rather difficult to minimize, and the dog was a well publicized pit bull.

Two major health workers unions and 80 hospitals have pledged not to give or take the vaccine without an actual smallpox case. The health workers' pledge
(www.healthworkers.org/pledge.htm) says the military shots should be stopped.

Respected medical journals, such as the January 2003Journal of the American Medical Association, are addressing the administration's poor risk/benefit analysis. One author personally observed the dynamics of smallpox transmission in crowded Pakistan. He noted that infectious smallpox victims are too sick to be in public. Their symptoms are sufficiently visible to enact effective containment measures, as was done with a German smallpox outbreak in the
late 1980s. Another JAMA article pointed out the high risk of inducing a self-inflicted epidemic. In the December 2002American Medical News, Dr. Jeffrey Sartin characterized smallpox vaccinations given prior to the outbreak of smallpox cases as tantamount to "giving dangerous chemotherapy before cancer has been diagnosed." Also, the Institute of Medicine has concluded the administration's policy is too rushed and lacks adequate safeguards (New York Times, 1/15/03).

The administration's biowarfare vaccine policies fail to be compassionate, conservative, or considerate of military family concerns. Everyone should become thoroughly knowledgeable about the dangers of smallpox and anthrax vaccinations that are premature, forced, used improperly, or outright illegal. Homeland Security Bill provisions allow Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson to declare even a potential bioterror "emergency" and call for nationwide, pre-emptive injections for all citizens.

As for now, the administration's bioterror vaccine policy itself is already too much bioterror.

    Monumental Mistake-Sims Was A Monster

    Monumental Mistake:

    'via Blog this'

The patient’s relief was immediate, since the change in air pressure successfully relocated her uterus to its proper position. Sims described the moment as if he’d had a spiritual epiphany. "I cannot, nor is it needful for me to describe, my emotions when the air rushed in and dilated the vagina to its greatest capacity whereby its whole surface was seen at one view, for the first time by any mortal man." His success with this single procedure convinced Sims he could find a surgical remedy for vaginal tears. Finally, he could make a name for himself.
Eager to devote the rest of his life to perfecting the procedure, he built a crude hospital in his back yard that had 16 beds. He also fashioned over 71 surgical instruments.

    (Like that movie: "Hostel.")

Plantation owners were happy to turn over their slaves to Sims for experimentation. Between 1846 and 1849, Sims experimented surgically on as many as 11 patients at a time.
Anarcha is believed to have undergone more than 30 operations. Together with two other enslaved women, Betsy and Lucy, they endured repeated experiments at Sims’s hands all the years the backyard hospital was operating.

Sims took in the patient reluctantly. He put her up on his examination table, on her hands and knees and, using a modified pewter spoon to expand the walls of her vagina, he accidentally released the pressure that held her uterus in an awkward position. Anarcha felt immediate relief as the change in air pressure helped her uterus to relocate back into its proper position.
Through an agreement with her master, Anarcha became Dr Sims's guinea pig. She regularly underwent surgical experiments, while positioned on Sims’s table, squatting on all fours, and fully awake without the comfort of any anesthesia. It was commonly accepted that African Americans had a higher tolerance for pain than their white counterparts. Commonly accepted but utterly wrong. "

By all accounts, Sims, like a vast majority of his antebellum Southern white counterparts, was a strong proponent of slavery.
Thus, when Sims wanted fistula patients, he simply bought or rented the slaves from their owners.
Sims operated on at least 10 slave women from 1846 to 1849, perfecting his technique. It took dozens of operations before he finally reported success, having used special silver sutures to close the fistulas. Three of the slaves -- Lucy, Anarcha and Betsy -- all underwent multiple procedures without anesthesia, which had recently become available. Sims's records show that he operated on Anarcha 30 times.
Sims's persistence aroused some alarm, and several physicians urged him to stop experimenting. In response, he later reported that the slave women had been ''clamorous'' for the operation and had even assisted him with surgery.

(Carry a hammer in your car to break the window when this happens.) The collapse of the Interstate-5 bridge over the Skagit River in Washington State was triggered by an oversized truck hitting its steel span, sending two vehicles into the icy water 50-feet below, Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste said Friday.
Three people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Thursday evening, but there were no fatalities.

"Hospitals increased their charges dramatically during that period of time," said Seibold, the former insurance executive. "They will increase their charges because the only people who pay charges are health plans that are dumb enough to pay 'discount-on-charge' contracts and people who are either uninsured or private-pay," he said.

How Does The AHA Raise Funds and Spend It's Money

Why You Should Support the American Heart Association!:

    'via Blog this'

    According to the AHA:

"How Does the American Heart Association Do It?

The AHA began in 1924 as a professional society with a strong commitment to public health and the clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease and a strong belief that more research was needed. During its first 25 years the AHA's annual budget, derived largely from professional dues, was never more than $50 000. AHA leaders realized that these funds were inadequate to support the goals of the organization. In 1948 the AHA changed from a professional society to a not-for-profit voluntary health organization. This decision created a partnership between healthcare professionals and lay volunteers, bankers, lawyers, teachers, accountants—indeed, people from all walks of life, united in the fight against cardiovascular disease. This partnership allowed the AHA for the first time to effectively raise money from the general public and greatly expand its public health and clinical efforts as well as start a research program. Today the AHA is the second largest not-for-profit voluntary health organization in the world. In FY 1996 the AHA raised $347.5 million. This money did not come from a few wealthy individuals or the federal government. In fact, it came from over 10 million donors. The median donation was only $18.50.

How Does the American Heart Association Raise Funds?

The income of the AHA is the result of the hard work of 4.5 million volunteers who plan and conduct thousands of events like Jump Rope for Heart, Hoops for Heart, Heart Walk, and Heart Balls. Each of these events involves hundreds of hours of effort by volunteers and staff. An example is Jump Rope for Heart. In this event elementary and junior high school students learn about physical fitness and other heart-healthy behaviors. Each Jump Rope for Heart participant has sponsors who support the jumper's efforts with donations. Prizes go to the students who raise the most money. In 1996 Jump Rope for Heart events conducted in 18 804 schools raised a total of $26.5 million. Other events require similar efforts. How many scientific council members know how the AHA raises money? How many scientific council members donate their time and money to this effort? The vast majority of the money that the AHA raises is through its affiliates and divisions. I urge you as a scientific council member to get involved in your affiliate and division—your help is needed! Without effective fund-raising, the good works of the AHA, from which we have all benefited, could not be carried out.

How Does the American Heart Association Spend Its Money?

The AHA performs four fundamental activities:
    1. It discovers, processes, and interprets science.
    2. It communicates cardiovascular science, medical, and consumer health information.
    3. It is an advocate at federal, state, and community levels.
    4. It generates resources.

    Science Discovery

In the area of science discovery the AHA spends approximately $100 million each year to support investigator-initiated research. These funds are divided between the National Center research program and affiliate research programs. The national research program has recently undergone changes to increase its impact in the fight against heart disease and stroke. With limited funds, the focus has been placed on career development of young investigators and support of new, cutting-edge basic and clinical science."

(They make it all sound very mysterious, and worthy of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on. However, if all the soda and sugar were not available to eat and drink, and people concentrated on a good diet and moving around daily, we wouldn't NEED the AHA. they are sucking in all this money to treat something we ALREADY know how to prevent, yet for some esoteric reason kids are still fed a steady diet of trash. Why is that?
And what kids are told NOW is the opposite of what kids were told thirty years ago. The food pyramid has been basically turned upside down. It makes it a little hard to trust the "experts.")

Why I Am Not Donating To The American Heart Association VIA School Extortion

Year, State Incorporated: 1924, New York

(The fact that they have not figured out since 1924 that the key to a healthy heart is healthy weight, good diet, exercise,-PREVENTION- tells me this charity is feeding on itself. Meanwhile, the world keeps eating worse and worse foods since then, and getting fatter, and taking more prescribed drugs. The drugs OFTEN damage the heart-all the time.

In the seventies, people were told to eat grains and chemicals were added to everything to make food taste better ie. more addictive.

Their focus is seemingly not on prevention but on invasion of the body. If it was on prevention they would lobby against the junk food corporations. The 'Jumprope for Heart' prizes that you can win-but you  probably won’t-are cheap, plastic crap which destroy our oceans and our environment during production. An unhealthy ecosystem is bad for the heart. Therefore I conclude this charity is hypocritical.

ALWAYS QUESTION. Never just hand your money to someone who SAYS it will be used for good. Just because most people do something does not mean you should, too. Think for yourself and ALWAYS think critically. Going along with everyone else to not “make waves” is a bad habit and will ultimately hurt you, one way or another. You don’t have to argue every point out loud, just quietly do you own thing. Your own thing may be to disagree.

Most kids had not researched and knew nothing of the cause. They just knew there was a prize and the teachers were guilting everyone into participating. I am not against giving to charity or giving in general. I am against indiscriminate giving, uneducated, ignorant giving, and pressure put on kids to “fit in” which is called “peer pressure” and, maybe, “extortion.”

Our schools have a high incidence of asking you for money but never really letting you know where it’s going. Our money is too important to give it away to every company with a hand out. I would rather give to people, and as we generally, if not legally, agree, corporations are not people!

If they get five or ten or twenty from every kid, that ads up to thousands, and across the nation maybe millions, or more, of dollars. We already know how to prevent heart disease. It was an independant scientist and doctor who discovered the medical establishment had been giving us BAD advice for the past hundred years. Why didn’t the American Heart Association realize that? They couldn’t have done those studies themselves? What are they doing with that money?

They AMA spends 34 percent of it's income on administrative and fundraising activities. Apparently a good portion of THAT goes into producing, probably in China, plastic garbage to give out as "prizes" to kids that they've shmoozed into doing THEIR job, for nothing more than MAYBE a prize or maybe just a sticker. Seriously? Who is this helping? And isn't it hurting even more due to environmental concerns?

The LAST charity "event" I attended at the school had the kids running around the playground in a circle to tunes played by fast food restaurants-ie. ads which were reformulated as "songs." This tells me the school is not serious about "heart health," or ANY kind of health.

This is the page for teachers (with my observations):
     You can make a difference
Through skipping and fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Jump Rope for Heart teaches children the importance of healthy living and social responsibility. By running a Jump Rope for Heart event at your school, you will:

  • Inspire kids to get physically active, eat well and be heart-healthy

  • (this isn't happening in our school. Every child I see is eating chips and cookies, as much as they possible can. And most drink soda.)

  • Teach them the importance of helping others and giving back to the community (Seemingly without questioning the validity of the cause.)

  • Raise vital funds for heart disease, stroke research and health education (We know how to prevent heart problems. We don't seem to be enforcing prevention.)

  • Earn HeartSmart™ Points* that your school can redeem for valuable school resources (Such as?)

  • )
