Zero tolerance officers were executing a search warrant at his southeast Fort Worth house on May 16, searching for cocaine, when according to police reports the incident happened. The same report states that Darden resisted arrest.
But family members said the 350 pound father of two was a chronic asthmatic and had to sleep sitting up.

Police are investigating, and Cronk said a detective told him last week that they are attempting to secure a warrant for felonious assault because he said the resident  held a gun to his head.
On Friday, May 24, police said they had a suspect in the case. Police referred followup questions to the Saginaw County Prosecutor's Office, which did not immediately return a call seeking comment. 
Animal control officers picked up the dog, Casper, last week. The dog is now detained at the Saginaw County Animal Care Center.

The ACLU of Illinois brought the a suit against Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez in 2010, after her office wanted to bring charges against ACLU staff recording audio of “police officers performing their public duties in a public place and speaking loudly enough to be heard by a passerby.”
