Former Lee County lawyer pleads guilty to multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme | al.com:

'via Blog this'MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- James Boyd Douglas Jr. pleaded guilty March 22 to engaging in a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme.
The former Lee County Lawyer admitted to mishandling numerous real estate closing and real estate refinancing transactions on behalf of his clients between January 2005 and Sept. 23, 2011.
According to a release from the United States Attorney's Office in the Middle District of Alabama, as part of the real estate closings, Douglas received the proceeds of new mortgage loans.
