Joseph Bowen Brown, 31, of Mesa, was sentenced Monday. In total, six people entered guilty pleas in the scheme.
Earlier this year, co-defendant Benjamin Jackson was sentenced to 13 months in prison for his role in originating seven loans based on false information. The other four defendants are awaiting sentencing.
Brown admitted to orchestrating illegal "cash back" mortgage sales on homes in the Phoenix area from mid-2005 to mid-2007.
The IRS investigation found that Brown and others at The Solid Group firm, which has since collapsed, purchased properties at or below market value and re-sold them based on inflated appraisals.
