Kevin Scott Wiebe, 28, was the office manager for SB Mortgage Consultants. The two principals of the company, Timothy Brooks, 40, and Adam Spruill, 34, each pleaded guilty in June 2010 to a single count of conspiracy that includedbank fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, fraud by false statements on loan and credit applications and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charlene Day said the men would use people like Wiebe with good credit as straw buyers. The buyers would inflate their monthly income and assets on the loan applications, which were then used by Brooks and Spruill to get construction loans to build the homes.
