Nashville attorney Kline G. Preston and Nashville restaurant owner Joshua Smith of the Standard Restaurant and Club are traveling to Russia to be among a handful of observers for the controversial elections there next week.
Preston was present for the last election which made international news when claims of corruption surfaced, according to a news release from the Clarksville-based public relations and publicist firm, The Perlen Group.
Kline said he had a difficult time getting his side of the story heard in the U.S. because “mainstream media outlets were too busy re-reporting hype instead of facts.”
The Kline law firm is licensed to practice law in the U.S. as well as Russia.
Smith is traveling as Kline’s guest but said he sees this as an opportunity to capitalize on the international experience.
His restaurant, The Standard, is widely regarded among the nation’s elite establishments and has just learned it will be featured in the Robb Report in April.
He hopes that the travel will broaden his ideas for his restaurant.
“I want to be sure The Standard is a destination for international guests.
There is a lot more going on in Nashville than just music.
There are a lot of power brokers working here and I want to provide a dining experience and club up to the world-class standards.”
The two men will be calling from the Red Square for a live interview with Russian dignitaries, to give their personal accounts of the election process with no spin, as it unfolds.
