Prosecutors are more willing to try embezzling cases and judges are more willing to impose jail time than a decade or two ago.
Most embezzling cases can be tried by local district attorneys or the AG’s Office. As more money is involved, the length of any possible prison time as goes up. Higgins was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.
