Oxnard Toddler Recovering From Pitbull Bites
Written by Tracy Lehr
An Oxnard toddler is recovering from surgery after being bit in the face and neck by a young male pitbull.
It happened at the boy's babysitter's home on J Street in Oxnard Sunday Afternoon.
The dog and three others belonged to the babysitter's brother who let the pit bull get away after the attack.
The dog remains on the loose.
The dog owner told Key News that the boy, who is almost three years old, was eating a miniature Butterfinger candy bar when it happened.
The dog owner was fined a thousand dollars for ten violations including a hundred dollars for each dog that did not have proof of a license or vaccination for rabies.
Magana is listed in stable condition in the Ventura County Medical Center's new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Oxnard handed off the investigation to Ventura County Animal Control officers because they are mandated by the state to deal with bites.
If the dog is found officers say he will be quarantined for ten days.
The dog could then be put down of the owner requests it or if the victims family files a complaint with the same request.
