Women's Group Plans "WTF Awards" to "Honor" Akin, Brewer, Limbaugh for Worst Misogyny | Alternet

Women's Group Plans "WTF Awards" to "Honor" Akin, Brewer, Limbaugh for Worst Misogyny | Alternet:

'via Blog this'The Women's Campaign Forum, which encourages and supports pro-choice female candidates for office, is holding their annual gala with a twist:  awards dinner for the year's worst offenders, trying to get some LOLs and positive momentum out of a year of WTF moments. It's an interesting tactic that shows us how women's groups are trying to build support from their base out of the extremism coming from the other side.
The invitation I just got in the mail reminds us of some of the greatest hits in this category:

Remember when Rush Limbaugh told Sandra Fluke that she should let him watch her have sex because she spoke out for reproductive rights, and you were all, “Uhh, WTF?”

...There’s an award for that.

Remember when Congressman Todd Akin said that rape victims don’t get pregnant because “if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” and you were all, “Seriously, W...T...F?”
...There’s an award for that.
And remember when Governor Jan Brewer decided, “Hey, y’know what would be cool? Legally determining that women are pregnant two weeks before a baby has even been conceived!” And you were all, “OMG WTF???”
...There’s totally an award for that.
This is a tactic you'll find happening with women's and reproductive rights groups across the country.
