I paid for a homeowner coverage on appliances ect. for a recently purchased home. The water heater broke and was leaking. I called for a repair at 6 am and it is now 5:38 pm and they still have not sent a repair person and would not give me a time as to when one would come....
Recently I had problems with my dishwasher. It does not pump water. I called Old Republic to report it. They informed me that they would fax a work order to the contractor and that the contractor would notify me within 24 hours. That did not happen. I called the contractor myself.....several times. Finally, after several days, the contractor came to my home and explained that it was probably impossible to order the parts needed for this dishwasher. I paid the contractor $55 for the service call to tell me this. He explained that he would attempt to try to locate the parts and that he would get in touch with me. After several days, I called Old Republic to find out the status. They said they were "researching" it and would be getting back with me. My question to them was: "if my furnace went out in the middle of winter, would you be researching it for several days and let us freeze". Basically, in not so many words, the answer was yes. I asked to speak to the manager. His name was Juan. Juan was immediately defensive. When I reminded him that he sounded "angry with me and that I am the customer, he calmed down somewhat. (His extension is 7751). To remedy this situation, I requested a check for the parts which is supposed to be $157 (minus the $55 service call, of course). I have a new dishwasher ordered from Sears which is costing me $413. I think Old Republic sucks....plain and simple. I also think their customer reps are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. My advice to others is.....don't consider buying a policy with this company and PLEASE do research on any other company you may want to go with. Sincerely, Lyn Ly n |
