Residents fight back against a slum lord that refuses to kill the bed bugs that infest the Doyle Gardens Apartment Complex.
“I want justice for all of us people, I want somebody to say that is not right for slum lords to just keep on making slum and us poor have to keep on living in it,” said Vicki Robinson.
The infestation started more than 10 months ago, and still nothing has been done, the residents including children have bites all over their bodies.

Many of the residents have armed themselves with bed bug spray but it’s not strong enough stop the problem just reduce the bug numbers.
“It helps a little bit, but not as much as we’d like. I bought bed bug spray at Orchard Supply, and this is better than what they treat the property with,” said Kevin Arch-Angel.
The problem was so bad a former tenant contacted the California Rural Legal Assistance after she was evicted for complaining about the bed bug problem.
“They told me to quit calling them and quite pestering them about this problem. They weren’t going to do nothing about it and they sent me that notice called me a pest.
How are you going to call somebody a pest and they are getting bit by bugs,” said Robinson.
It will take a year before this case goes to trial, but tenants and attorneys say they hope something is done to fix this problem, and maybe compensate the tenants for the money they have lost throwing away bed bug infested furniture.
