Eve Shreve, 48, faced a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison and a $30,000 fine for pleading guilty in early March to charges of arson and recklessly endangering another person. But Erie County Judge John Garhart cited Shreve's "exemplary life," and the mental health issue that led her to try and take her own life, in not ordering jail time in the case.

The judge required as part of Shreve's sentence that she continue to undergo mental-health treatment.

Corry police accused Shreve of using a foreclosure notice to set fire to her home at 52 Marion St. on March 18, 2011, endangering herself, her son and three firefighters who put out the fire.
