Forum shows that human trafficking goes beyond pimps, could be your neighbor, doctor, classmates | cleveland.com:

...tion is not just for pimps anymore. More than 50 people learned that and more at a human trafficking forum sponsored by the city of Cleveland at the Applewood Centers Tuesday night.

Parents, grandparents, pastors, high school and college classmates, businessmen and doctors are all participating in prostitution and forced labor.

"Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery," said Crystal Murphy, of the Collaborative Initiative to End Human Trafficking, during a presentation. "Slavery never ended [in this country] or around the world."

After drug dealing, human trafficking is tied with the selling of arms as the second largest criminal industry in the world and is the fastest growing, according to the group. Many drug dealers are opting out of drugs and into the hard-to-detect sex trade.
