'via Blog this'Beijing, China – Children are, essentially, what we are here for. While human beings have accomplished many amazing things and done incredible things such as art, science, and even travelling into outer space we are still, at our core, designed for reproduction, to push the species towards the next generation.

Humans, because we are complicated, make the whole process of reproduction far more complicated that it needs to be, attaching things like love and personal legacy to our children. Regardless, though, of how we express our need to reproduce that is what it is, to pass our genetic material to a new generation and to propagate the species.
Humans are, no matter which way you argue it, far more complex than simply being reproduction machines. We nurture our children over years and teach them how to behave in society and how to succeed towards a goal of eventually having their own children and doing the same for them. That instinct is what makes things like child trafficking so distasteful to so many, the notion that children could be treated in such a cavalier manner, sold off like cattle but that happens every day. In China, luckily, authorities have managed to crack down on one such operation and saving 181 children in the process, children who were immediately put to work in a variety of professions.
“We have zero tolerance when it comes to child trafficking and will make the utmost efforts to make sure that every trafficker is caught,” said Chen Shiqu of the Ministry of Public Security's anti-human trafficking office. “We are very glad to have tracked down these criminals and freed these children. All will be dealt with according to the law.”

For traffickers dealing in human trafficking can result in harsh prison sentences and even death. For children it can result in hard labour or life spent in an orphanage.
