I feel it has to do with the unbiblcal teaching that priest can not marry .

  • No. It is not allowed. Partially this is due to the Catholic Church's celibacy vows that they make priests take(not in the Bible, Paul said if you can stand it then yes be celibate, if not marry). This prohibition is why it is seen mainly in the Catholics and not the Protestants who allow their pastors to marry. The other part is the segregation of the sexes within the Catholic church. Women and girls are not allowed to be part of the ceremony, with the possible exception of nuns. So all the priest has around him for practicing and running the ceremonies are young boys. The priests who did these things have sinned grievously, they A) Caused another to stumble in their faith(most of the boys will have nothing to do with religion afterwards and B) violated the restrictions against homosexual sex and fornication of all varieties. The church then compounded the problem by hiding it. They shuffled the priests away from where they had the problem. They would have been better served by making the offending priests be arrested and punished.

    I looked it up, and here are the facts:

    about 4 percent of RC priests are accused. For perspective, about 5 percent of teachers are.

    2-4 percent of those accused are convicted. This works out to about 1 in 1000 priests.

    Most cases date back to the 1950's and 1960's. Cases after 1990 are rare.

    The average age of the child? 17. Children under 12 are exceedingly rarely abused.

    More perspective: Just over 70 percent of children abused (not just sexually) are abused by their parents, and another 15 percent by other family members.

    So, your child is MUCH safer with a priest than being at home, and safer than being at school.

    Those are the facts. Not that child abuse is in any way acceptable, but, it is less common with priests than others.

  • There are a few different theories. One is that because they are sexually repressed (Catholic priests are expected to be celibate) their sexuality expresses itself in strange ways. The alter boys are easy to manipulate being that they see the priest as an authority figure.

    Another sort of strange theory is that it's left over from Rome's pagan roots. Roman men pre-Christianity, would often take young boys as their sexual partners while they were in a student-teacher relationship. This was called pederasty. Christianity deemed this practice immoral, and it is to believed to be taken underground.

  • Paedophiles can be atheists or Jewish it's not a faith thing. Some of these cases have no evidence they happened some of these cases are more emotive than factual evidence. So don't believe everything you read. In most places out of lots of "teachers" one or two did all the abusing so it wasn't endemic probably.

    The abuse that has been proven happened in isolated institutions which as you know are segregated so the priests were with the boys and the nuns with the women. You are still more likely to be raped by an attacker in the street than in one of these places these days.

  • It is because they are not allowed to get marriage and to sleep with a girl is to have sex but in their eyes to sleep with a boy isn't considered sex. They are disgusting old men. So they sleep with the boys because they're not having sex out of wed lock. It's a load of cr@p.

  • They dont all do it, and those that do are usually members of a religious sect where sexuality is completely repressed. Repressing basic nature never goes well, and often causes horrible abnormalities mental, emotional, and even physical.

  • Because catholics are anathema. The priesthood of all other christian cults than orthodox is not supported by facts and church tradition. They are just people gone astray and even worse than pagans. Because you have a better chance to make a pagan see the light.

  • Celibacy took its toll.It is not young boys alone that are victim,nuns are among them too.
    I wonder whether the gospel command to 'enter the narrow gate' has been correctly interpreted.
